Disznókő estate
Disznókő has crafted its own style of Tokaji wines, the legendary sweet white wines of Hungary. The Disznókő Tokaji Aszús are contemporary noble wines with perfect balance between the purity of the fruit , the freshness of the grape varieties and the complexity of the Botrytis.
About Disznókő:
Disznókő, classified First Growth since 1732, has been one of the pioneers in the renaissance of the great historic wines of Tokaj. Disznókő wines are characterized by a very pure fruit and a perfect balance between freshness and the concentration of Botrytis.
An exceptional terroir:
Acclaimed as one of the most favourable sites for Aszú in Tokaj, the Disznókő estate is a single tract of land, planted with noble grape varieties of the Tokaj Wine Region, mainly Furmint.
The architectural heritage:
The buildings on the Disznókő estate are among the most remarkable of any vineyard in the world. Iconic and instantly recognisable, situated at the entrance of the Tokaj region, they announce the gateway to Tokaji wines both literally and metaphorically.
The Winery
Among most spectacular investments in viticulture
Modern yet traditional, the state-of-the-art winery was designed by award-winning architect Dezső Ekler. Natural materials, organic forms and the unique use of natural light are infused with inspiration drawn from the traditional Tokaj cellars. This iconic building completed in 1995 draws visitors curious to experience one of the most spectacular investments in viticultural architecture in Central Europe.
Tailor-made for the vinification of Disznókő wines
Each of the three floors represents a stage in the winemaking. The grapes arrive at ground level from where they fall to the presses below by gravity to avoid unnecessary damage. The grape juice – the must – settles in tanks below before fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Then the wines are drawn down into the barrels in the subterranean cellars for ageing.
Guest and other services:
The guests who visit the estate can get to know the productions of the Tokaji wines throughout the year, accompanied by guides, who speak multiple languages.
